About our Herbs
Using Herbs
Be aware that just like humans, horses can also have allergic reactions to some herbs. For this reason, we recommend discussing your horses needs with us prior to using extracts or raw herbs and starting off with small doses. We also recommend that you discuss the herbs and supplements with your regular vet prior giving them to your horse.
Herbal Extract Blends
A more concentrated way to administer herbs is using Extracts. Extracts have a glycerol (sugar) base, and so are sweeter and can be added in small amounts to water or administered with a syringe. Horses tend to lap up the extract in the same way they would molasses. The dosage of a herbal extract is dependent on the condition and ordering requires a consultation. Book your consultation here.
Sourcing of Individual Herbs
Where possible we source non genetically modified, organic herbs to prevent toxic effect of pesticides on horses. Herbs are essentially a food and fall under this category for the purpose of preparation and processing. Herbs have been selected based on their quality. Often a herb will be grown in an area where it is traditionally used.
All the herbs on this website are fit for human consumption. Herbal extracts (liquids) are an exempt product from TGA and must be prescribed only by a qualified Naturopath or Herbalist, which requires a consultation.
